You can have your Goggl account deleted at any time. You don’t have to give a reason, it costs you nothing, and we won’t try to talk you out of it.
How to do it
Send an email to contact@goggl.app with the subject Delete account, from the email address you used to create your Goggl account.
That last part matters: we only delete an account at the owner’s request, and that email address is how we establish who you are. If that isn’t possible — because you no longer have access to that address, for instance — email us anyway, and we’ll find another way together to confirm it’s you.
We’ll confirm your request, delete your account, and let you know once it’s done. Within one month, as the GDPR requires — in practice, a good deal faster.
What gets deleted
Everything linked to you:
- your account and your login credentials
- your profile: display name, profile picture, skiing ability, preferences
- all your ski recordings, including your full GPS tracks and your heart-rate data
- your last known location
- your friendships and the data you shared with friends: daily stats, top speeds, simplified routes, reactions
- your groups
What stays
Two things, and it’s fairer to name them than to leave them unsaid:
Public contributions. Photos of places and reviews you posted that were approved stay up, because other users rely on them. We do detach them from you, so they can no longer be traced back to you. If you want them gone as well, say so in your email and we’ll delete them.
Backups. Our backups run on a rolling schedule. Your data may still appear in them for up to 30 days before it’s permanently overwritten. During that period it isn’t used and isn’t restored, except if we have to recover from a system failure — in which case we delete your data again afterwards.
Just want to stop sharing?
Deletion is permanent. If you only want your friends to stop seeing your data, you don’t have to go that far:
- In the app, under Privacy, you can turn off sharing per item. That takes effect immediately.
- The Delete shared data button wipes everything you shared with friends, without losing your account or your recordings.
Your ski logbook simply stays yours.
Want to take your data with you first?
Sensible. Before you delete, you can export every session in the app as GPX or TCX, or send them to Strava or Apple Health. Once we delete your account, we can’t get to it either.
If you’d rather have a full copy of everything we hold about you, ask for it in your email. That’s your right under the GDPR, and we’ll send it to you within the same time frame.
