These terms apply between you and Maxim Janssens, trading as mixxamm, Varenstraat 57, 2840 Rumst, Belgium, enterprise number BE 1023.684.154 (“we”, “us”, “Goggl”). By using Goggl, you agree to them.
Whatever else you skip, read chapter 2. That one is about the mountain, and it’s the only chapter that can leave you with something that hurts.
1. What Goggl is
Goggl is an app for skiers and snowboarders: maps, route planning, navigation, recording your day, and a social side that lets you follow your friends.
You need an account for most of it. You are responsible for your login details and for whatever happens under your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
2. Goggl is a tool, not a guide
This is the most important chapter in this document, and it is not a formality.
Skiing and snowboarding are dangerous activities. You can get hurt. You can die. That risk exists with or without an app, and Goggl does not take it off your hands.
In concrete terms, that means:
- Goggl does not replace piste markings, signage or closures. If there’s a fence, a cross or a rope, that’s what counts — even if your screen says otherwise. What you see in the app is a representation of data, not permission to ski somewhere.
- Goggl does not replace avalanche reporting. We do not issue an avalanche bulletin, and our data says nothing about avalanche danger. Always consult the official bulletin for the region you’re in.
- The data can be wrong or out of date. Piste status, open lifts, snow depth, grooming and bus times come from ski resorts, weather services and other third parties. We collect it as carefully as we can, but we cannot guarantee that it is correct or current. A piste shown as open in the app may be closed. A lift that Goggl says is running may be standing still.
- Navigation is a suggestion. The route Goggl plots does not account for your ability, for the current snow conditions, for the weather or for visibility. Judge for yourself whether a route is within your reach.
- Off-piste is entirely at your own risk. Goggl is not designed for off-piste, ski touring or mountaineering, and must not be used as a navigation tool for any of them.
- Do not rely on your phone or watch as a rescue device. Batteries die in the cold, GPS is unreliable between rock faces, and there is no coverage everywhere. Take the equipment you’re supposed to take.
You decide, and you are responsible for what you decide. Use your common sense, know your own ability, and follow the rules of the ski resort and the FIS rules of conduct.
3. What you may do with Goggl
You may use Goggl the way it’s meant to be used: personally, for your own days on the slopes.
You may not:
- attack or overload the app or our servers, or try to break into data that isn’t yours
- automatically scrape data out of Goggl or resell it
- copy, reverse-engineer or decompile the app, except to the extent the law expressly allows you to
- create an account in someone else’s name, or pass yourself off as someone else
- use Goggl for anything unlawful
If you breach this, we can restrict your access or terminate your account.
4. What you post
In Goggl you can upload photos of places, write ratings, suggest corrections to location data, and choose a display name and profile picture. Below, we call all of that your contributions.
You stay the owner
The copyright in your photos and texts stays yours. We do not claim it.
To be able to show your contribution, we do need your permission. By posting something, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that contribution within Goggl, and to adapt it technically (for example: resizing, compressing, cropping for a thumbnail). Nothing more. We do not use your photos in advertising or on this website without asking you separately.
That licence ends when you delete the contribution. Copies in backups may continue to exist for a while.
The rules for contributions
Your contribution must be yours, and you must have the right to post it. Do not post anything that:
- infringes someone else’s copyright or image rights
- shows identifiable people who did not consent to it
- is insulting, hateful, threatening or intimidating
- is untrue or misleading (a fake review of a mountain restaurant is a fake review)
- is advertising or spam
- contains other people’s personal data
Moderation
All photos, ratings and suggested corrections are reviewed in advance and only appear once approved. We may refuse a contribution or remove it afterwards, and we don’t have to explain ourselves at length. In case of repeated violations, we can terminate your account.

5. The social side
You choose who your friends are — a friendship only exists once both sides accept it. What you share with your friends and what you don’t is up to you, in the app’s privacy settings. Exactly how that works, and what is on by default, is set out in our privacy policy.
Do not share your friends’ location or data outside Goggl without them knowing.
6. Connections with other services
If you connect Goggl to Strava, Garmin or Apple Health, we send data to that service because you ask us to. What happens to it after that falls under that party’s terms and privacy policy, not ours. We are not responsible for what they do or fail to do.
7. Availability
We do our best to keep Goggl working, but we don’t promise uninterrupted availability. There can be maintenance, something can break, and a third-party service (maps, weather, piste status) can go down without us being able to do anything about it.
We may change, add or remove features. If we remove something important, we’ll let you know.
8. Liability
Goggl is provided as is. We do not guarantee that the app works without errors, that the data is correct, or that it is suitable for any particular purpose you have in mind.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- injury or death arising from skiing or snowboarding itself, or from a decision you made based on what the app showed
- damage caused by incorrect or outdated data from ski resorts, weather services or other third parties
- damage caused by the app, your device, your battery, your GPS or your connection letting you down
- loss of your recordings or data, however annoying that is
- indirect damage, consequential damage or lost profit
What we do not exclude, and cannot exclude: liability for wilful misconduct, for gross negligence, for personal injury caused by us, and anything that mandatory Belgian consumer law does not allow us to exclude. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights remain fully intact — nothing in this document takes anything away from them.
If you nevertheless believe we owe you something, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us for Goggl in the twelve months before.
9. Termination
You can stop at any time: delete your account, delete the app. How to do that is explained on Delete account.
We can terminate your account if you breach these terms, if you misuse the service, or if we discontinue Goggl. Except in the case of a serious breach, we’ll let you know in advance, so you can export your data.
10. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. If it’s a material change, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you don’t agree with it, you can stop using Goggl — that is your right and it costs you nothing.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes are submitted to the competent courts of Belgium.
If you are a consumer in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country, and you can also bring a case there. You can also turn to the European online dispute resolution platform.
